It's covered at http://www.tcpalm.com/tcp/living/article/0,1651,TCP_1043_1557586,00.html (might be possible to get him into our architectural competition?) News today has highlighted the plans for the new 7 WTC,which are pretty much what was announced months and months ago.Perhaps the bank lenders have been armtwisted into letting Greenwich Street through now.(An AP headline has been "Plans Set for 1st Rebuilt WTC Tower"). As to what Silverstein plans for the 16 acres,we know his announced preference for five smaller buildings,Greenwich Street all the way through, empty footprints...basically giving the pressure groups he is exposed to (official and not) enough of what they want so he can make money. An illuminating look at the situation, though is in this article from the Washington Post: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A12791-2002Nov19.html This indicates again the big rush of letters that he received urging him to rebuild at least as tall,as mentioned on the CNN 16 Acres show...but tries to ascribe such sentiment to the past, and diminish it as emotional (as if the "hallowed ground" argument were anything else). The article also implies that public sentiment is for building small. It seems important to me that he continue to receive pro-tall-towers letters...our views are not a thing of the past! Be polite,of course...be firm but not aggressive.Should he prove an obstacle to the new Towers being very tall in the future that would be the time for confrontation, but now is the time to push the positive things about fully restoring what was lost, the honor to the fallen that can not be done otherwise.Consider the judgement of history on our willingness to rise again. The survivors/family-of-victims among us would be ESPECIALLY important in making their voices heard to him.I think he has lately moved his offices from 521 Fifth to 530 Fifth, not sure if the ZIP code is the same. Don't drop the ball...keep your eyes on the prize in the skies. -=-=- The World Trade Center towers MUST rise again, at least as tall as before...or terror has triumphed.
