Date: Wed, 26 Feb 2003 19:24:44 -0500 (EST) From: Louis Epstein Subject: WTC Rebuilding #189:Officials Choose Libeskind,More to Come This is something of a "News Flash" this time... it was announced during evening NY newscasts tonight that the official choice of the Daniel Libeskind plan had been made, with formal announcement expected tomorrow. News reports in today's NY Times had spoken of Betts getting his subcommittee to endorse his choice of a modified THINK plan, and spoken of the PR-campaigning the various architects had done, but news broadcasts tonight were saying that Pataki and Bloomberg supported Libeskind and it would be hard for their appointees to go against them. Tomorrow may,if reports are correct, see an 11 AM press conference at the Winter Garden to announce Libeskind's victory and unveil whatever tweaks he has made to it...I am very doubtful that they will in fact satisfy our concerns! Naturally, our fight to see something better built instead must continue.More than five out of seven voters in the "official" poll voted against the plan that was picked! There are many angles to explore and we will follow them to the best of our ability...I call upon all of you to help! For anyone interested in pushing Bank of America to make a bold statement by anchoring a major tower on the site, the chairman and president is Kenneth D. Lewis, and the chief marketing officer (responsible for their image) is Catherine P. Bessant. Lawrence Shen hopes to have a website for his plan up in about a week.He managed to get away with handing out about ten flyers based on it at the Winter Garden recently. Bob Armstrong of CoSy.com has been encouraging me to link to his ConicAllConnect plan...you're welcome to look at it and tell me what you think. Anyone with a lead on potential judges for our architectural competition please contact me ASAP!! See you on the 111th floor on 9-11-11! -=-=- The World Trade Center towers MUST rise again, at least as tall as before...or terror has triumphed.
